About
Graeme Ginsberg, Director of Cornerstone Tutors, writes:
As parents, we wish our children to grow up to lead healthy, happy and fulfilling lives. We want them to enjoy their school days and hope they will acquire the skills and confidence they need to compete for a place at university. Increasingly, however, we worry about the examination pressures they face at school, and we are anxious to provide them with additional support at certain times in their school careers.
Students can benefit from private tuition in many ways. But in such an unregulated industry, it is often difficult for parents to identify and select with confidence suitably qualified, dependable tutors for their children.
I set up Cornerstone Tutors with a clear mission: to provide high-quality private one-to-one tuition programmes, and to help students achieve particular objectives. To do this with integrity, enthusiasm and commitment.
Cornerstone’s tutors are subject specialists who use engaging interactive teaching techniques to extend students’ understanding, inspire interest and build self-confidence.
I only work with tutors who have substantial school teaching experience, because I believe this gives them a deeper understanding of the curriculum, and of how children differ in ability and personality. They appreciate classroom dynamics and their impact on learning. They strive to develop tailored programmes that complement the learning the child is receiving at school.
I believe that students perform better when they enjoy their learning. Balanced programmes planned far in advance are more effective than intensive ‘over-tutoring’. Children need to have time to relax and play otherwise they become exhausted, stressed and unhappy.
Tuition with Cornerstone should not only benefit your child’s academic performance in the short term, but also help develop the self-confidence, natural curiosity and learning skills needed for university and a future career.
